On our doorstep

Lussan is in the heart of the Gard region, on the edge of Provence, known for mouthwatering wines, amazing Roman ruins as well as exceptional nature areas. Whether you want to explore the region's ancient or medieval towns and villages, visit the calming oasis of the nearby Cevennes national park or enjoy a glass at the countless vineyards that litter the countryside, you'll be treated to an exquisite taste of France.

The best of France, within a stone's throw away

Lussan (3.5km), the nearest village to Audabiac, is a 15th century "Village de Caractère."  Reached by foot over a forest-and-field trail or a five-minute drive, it offers potter's shops, cafés, a tea room and an épicerie.

The medieval market and cathedral town of Uzès (16km) is perhaps best known for its chateau, which towers over the white stone town. Both are over 800 years old. Quality shops, boutiques, artisan bakeries and sidewalk restaurants await in a labyrinth of cobblestone alleyways of "The first Duchy of France." Do not miss the vibrant Saturday market.

Verfeuil (14km) offers a family  restaurant and the gallery of a renowned local artist just minutes from the unusual and beautiful hiking trails of "Les Concluses."

Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie (15km) takes its name from the plethora of potters who have been making works of art here for centuries.

Roque-sur-Cèze (20km) well earned its recognition as one of "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France." A short walk away awaits the unusual Cascades du Sautadet sur la Cèze falls, where the river bores totuous passages and waterfalls through the limestone bluffs.

Pont du Gard, (37km) is a Unesco world heritage monument and one of France's 3 most popular sites (after the Eiffel Tower and Mont St-Michel), built 2,000 years ago to flow water 160 feet over the Gard River from Uzès on its 50 kms journey to service the Roman city of Nimes

Other nearby treasures include Vaison-la-Romaine, another of "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France," as well as several "Villages de Caractère" and Avignon with its immensely rich history and architecture.

Extraordinary natural beauty awaits at Les Concluses, Les Gorges d'Ardèche, Mont Bouquet and Les Cevennes, not to mention the postcard pretty vineyards and lavender fields that cover the landscape like a patchwork quilt.

Don't miss our favourite épicerie full of local flavours at Fons-sur-Lussan, just 5 km away.
